Sandie Downes
Sandie has recently joined Red Hill Physiotherapy as our paediatric physiotherapist. Originally trained in Sydney , Sandie has over 12 years paediatric experience, having focused on the assessment and treatment of children for most of her career.
Initially working in the public hospital system, Sandie developed her skills particularly in the areas of premature infant follow-up, 0-5 years development and the treatment of specific problems such as Cerebral Palsy. Childhood problems such as Development Co-ordination Disorder (which effects about 5-10% of school-aged children) is another major focus.
She has experience and an interest in the principles of Conductive Education for children with disabilities. Sandie also has two years' experience running her own private paediatric practice prior to moving to Queensland and completing her Masters of Physiotherapy in Paediatrics.
At Red Hill Physiotherapy, we recognise how vital it is to treat each child individually, to identify the developmental problems that are causing difficulty now and which may impact on movement and posture in the future. Recognising that the parent is a specialist regarding their child, each treatment involves listening to them and involving them in their child's programme. Each child is unique and will receive specific, caring and dedicated attention from Sandie at Red Hill Physiotherapy.
